In 1967 in Hexham, England, Jacqueline, 11, and Joanna, 6, were struck by a car on their way to church. Their parents, John and Florence, were naturally devastated by the loss of their daughters and prayed continuously that they would come back. Florence became pregnant again a year later. Despite the doctor informing them that she only bore one child, John insisted his wife was carrying twins. He was convinced that they were the reincarnated souls of Jacqueline and Joanna. Sure enough, Florence gave birth to a set of identical twins named Gillian and Jennifer, otherwise known as the Pollock Twins. John noticed that, even though the girls were identical, Jennifer had birth marks, while Gillian didn’t. She had a white line across her forehead and a birthmark on her leg that Jacqueline used to have. The twins grew up never knowing the story of their deceased older siblings. They even gave their toys the same names Jacqueline and Joanna did. They pointed to a school they’d never been to and claimed they’ve been there. As they walked by a park car, they suddenly became fearful of their lives, screaming ‘’The car! It’s coming to get us.’’ Their mother noticed that the twins started playing sinister games. One involved Jennifer laying her head on her sister’s lap, as Gillian would tell her that blood was coming out of her eye because that was where the car had hit her.

The Pollock twins’ mysterious behavior was studied by a child psychiatrist who believed they were experiencing the reincarnation of their sisters. The twins’ memories of their supposed past lives vanished by the time they reached the age of five, and now lead very normal lives.
